Started in 1995 by AXSES INC with the plan to create the official website for the BTA. BTA choose not to own it and have it owned and managed by private sector. BTA agreed to provide marketing serices and assist in getting properties on site. AXSES was to manage and run the site and service and charge clients directly. 

AXSES ran the startup business for several years at considerable costs far above service fees. It was consider an outstanding tourism destination site and one of the first to use animated graphics. 

BTA choose to build its own site and AXSES continued to run the Barbados Tourism Encyclopedia which grew to be the most popular and highest traffic site for Barbados Tourism in the world. 

AXSES pioneered online travel with unique solution for Travel Agents (arcAgents), dynamic packaging (RealHolidays) and Special (bookings (arcRes). It built its own web mapping system (GeoAxses) and its own database engine for the internet (WebAxses), at a time when internet was a simple text based medium. 

It has contributed significantly to tourism in the island: From training hotel and tourism operators on all aspect of the new digital media to technology development, support and marketing.
